  Melanie Jones  

Having qualified as an occupational therapist in 2006, Melanie spent 10 years working across various teams within Social Services and later spent some time in mental health services. She began working as a private occupational therapist and case manager in 2016 and has worked on complex pre and post litigation cases for clients with serious injuries.

Melanie is confident in assessing and providing recommendations for community-based clients with long-term, complex disabilities. She is particularly adept at assessing their immediate and long-term needs, making appropriate provision with a view to promoting independence and wellbeing.

Melanie specialises in sourcing and providing equipment and recommending adaptations to the home. She is also experienced in assessing and advising on matters such as appropriate seating, postural management and safe manual handling for clients and their carers, care packages and therapeutic interventions.

She is highly skilled at making recommendations regarding major essential adaptations and designing and specifying specialist adaptations/equipment required for safety and independence. She also has specialist knowledge of building regulations and planning issues which must be considered in the designing of facilities for disabled individuals.

Melanie has treated a diverse range of people with various injuries and conditions over the years including Brain Injury, Stroke, Cerebral Palsy, Spinal Injury, Orthopaedic injuries, Arthritis, Mutliple Sclerosis, Parkinsons disease and rare conditions, such as Stiff Persons Syndrome, Supra Nuclear Palsy, Cerebellar Ataxia, MND and various other congenital conditions.

She has excellent interpersonal communications skills and is a fluent Welsh speaker.

Melanie is adept at managing and coordinating an MDT and care packages as a case manager on complex cases and has experience of being part of a team as a treating occupational therapist for other case managers. She has worked with individuals with varying degrees of brain and orthopaedic injuries as the treating occupational therapist with a focus on rehabilitating individuals to function at home, in the community and to access work and education opportunities.

Melanie is a member of BABICM and the Health & Care Professions Council.
