Helen Griffiths
Helen qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1999 specialises in adults with physical disabilities. Her previous professional roles have given her experience in a range of areas including orthopaedics, medical, care of the elderly, adult learning disabilities and adult psychiatry. Most recently, she has worked in the community with adults and elderly. Within this environment, she regularly encounters a range of conditions, including but not limited to: dementia, cancer, vascular, respiratory, cardiology, diabetes and rheumatology.
She has developed expertise in providing Occupational Therapy input to complex clients with multiple co-morbidities which all contribute to their reduced function. Managing these conditions required an understanding of the impact of physical illness and disability on mental health.
In addition, Helen’s role as a case management has provided significant experience of supporting people following traumatic injury and medical negligence.
Helen is committed to providing a holistic and client centred approach, assisting individuals to maximise their ability and to promote their independence and safety. She has amassed a wealth of experience in assessing and formulating treatment plans around activities of daily living relating to cognition, home environments and social circumstances in order to maintain independence, and to access appropriate care and support.
Her skill-sets includes fatigue management, environmental assessments, and falls prevention. Helen has extensive experience of adaptive equipment to maximise function, safety and independence.
Helen is committed to ensuring her knowledge is up to date through pursuing professional development opportunities. Her post graduate training includes an MSc in Professional Studies from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2011 where she focused on outcome measures in Occupational Therapy and their effectiveness in measuring therapy inputs.
Helen has undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and is fully aware of her responsibilities under Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to expert witnesses.
